f³ – freiraum für fotografie is an initiative by Society for Humanistic Photography (GfHF). f³ presents five to six exhibitions of international author photography per year in Berlin. In addition to exhibitions, there will be talks with photographers, debates and workshops regularly.

New exhibition space for photography in Berlin
It's official now! We are opening an exhibition space for international author photography. On 200 square meters close to Oranienplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg we will present 5-6 exhibitions per year, artists talks and round tables on photography.
Opening: 5th April 2017, 7:00 pm

Picturing NeighbourHOOD – A photo project with teenagers
In the framework of the photo project Picturing NeighbourHOOD young people (age 13 to 18), coming from Aleppo, Berlin, Damaskus and Hasaka explored their district Kreuzberg with the camera. Now they present us their experiences and discoveries in form of a photo exhibition.

If the dead could speak reveals some of the human stories behind the more than 28,000 photos of deaths in government custody that were smuggled out of Syria by former Syrian military police photographer code named 'Cesar'. It brings to public attention crimes against humanity. Followed by a discussion with Mazen Darwish, President of the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression. The Syrian author and human rights activist Rosa Yassin Hassan reads from her latest novel, followed by a talk with the author. Presented and translated by Larissa Bender, specialist for Arabic literature. Arabic & German.

Return to Homs – a documentary by Talal Derki
The film depicts the Syrian civil war from the perspective of the teenage fighter Basset, goalkeeper of the Syrian junior national team in football. It draws an impressive image of the situation in Homs. The Screening is followed by a talk with the director. Presented by Margit Miosga, Journalist. English & German
WARonWALL - Photographs about the war in Syria on the Berlin Wall.
WARONWALL depicts the damage done to Syria and its people on 360 meters of the Berlin Wall. Kai Wiedenhöfer photo- graphed the war-torn country and its inhabitants since 2012.

In memory of the courage and the dedication of AP photographer Anja Niedringhaus Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus and Gesellschaft für Humanistische Fotografie present the exhibition Beloved Afghanistan – Photographs by Anja Niedringhaus.
Anja Niedringhaus has worked in numerous war and crisis regions worldwide. She was one of the few international photojournalists, who repeatedly traveled through Afghanistan. With enormous empathy and artistic sensitivity she portrayed the people there in all different life situations. Beloved Afghanistan shows for the very first time her series about female members of parliament in Afghanistan as well as portraits of Afghan voters. A whole chapter of the exhibition is dedicated to her last photographs of the presidential elections in 2014.

In her photographs and short films, the photographer and multimedia journalist Lela Ahmadzai shows the lives of four women in Kabul: the baker Reza Guel, the politician Shinkai Karokhail, the policewoman Saba Sahar and the singer Pary Ghulami. Both the images and the words of the women themselves reveal the balancing act that women in Afghanistan perform between self-determination and their traditional roles, and convey a feeling for how fragile any bit of autonomy is and how very tenuous women's rights are in Afghanistan still today, after 10 years of presence of the NATO troops in the country.
The exhibition has been curated by Gisela Kayser, Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus and Katharina Mouratidi, Society for Humanistic Photography (GfHF).

Exhibition Opening Bridge the Gap: 26th of June 2015, 4 p.m., Passage Willy-Brandt-Haus, Berlin
In the framework of the project Bridge the Gap, young refugees and teenagers from Berlin explored their identity, their origin and their daily reality using photography. In walks through their neighborhood, excursions through Berlin and exhibition-visits, the teenagers discovered from January – June 2015 their surroundings together and captured their impressions photographically.
The result of Bridge the Gap is a photography-art exhibition in which the participants light up their lives from their own perspectives and present snap-shots from their own, personal world.

Our exhibition project CHANGING REALITIES shown at Alexanderplatz subway station in the course of the 6th European Month of Photography was a great success.
